From boardrooms to basement theaters — here’s what GTA homeowners and businesses ask us most.

What commercial AV services does Custom AVI provide in the GTA?

Custom AVI designs and installs commercial AV systems across the Greater Toronto Area, including conference room video conferencing, corporate AV and automation, digital signage, and business network & Wi-Fi infrastructure. We work with offices, boardrooms, retail spaces, and multi-location businesses.

What’s involved in a conference room AV installation?

A conference room AV installation typically includes display or projection systems, video conferencing cameras and microphones, room control panels, and integration with platforms like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Google Meet. We design the system around your room size, seating layout, and how your team actually uses the space — from small huddle rooms to full boardrooms.

Which video conferencing platforms do you support?

We install and configure systems that work with the major platforms — Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Google Meet, and Cisco — along with the certified hardware (cameras, speakerphones, room controllers) each platform requires for a native, one-touch-join experience.

What is corporate AV automation and how does it help my business?

Corporate AV automation ties your AV equipment, lighting, shades, and climate into a single control system so staff can start a meeting, present, or reconfigure a room with one touch instead of juggling multiple remotes and inputs. It reduces IT support calls and makes rooms consistent across your office.

Do you install digital signage for retail or corporate spaces?

Yes. We install digital signage systems for lobbies, retail displays, reception areas, and wayfinding — including the displays, mounting, content management software, and network connectivity needed to keep signage updated remotely.

Can you upgrade our office network and Wi-Fi alongside AV installation?

Yes — commercial AV increasingly depends on reliable network infrastructure. We design and install business-grade Wi-Fi and wired network systems sized for your space, whether that’s a single conference room or full-building coverage, and we can do this standalone or bundled with an AV install.

Do you work with IT departments or building management on commercial projects?

Regularly. On larger commercial jobs we coordinate directly with in-house IT teams, property/building management, and sometimes general contractors to make sure AV, network, and electrical work is sequenced correctly, especially on renovation or new-build projects.

Can you support multiple office locations or a corporate rollout?

Yes — we’ve supported organizations with AV needs across multiple GTA locations, standardizing room designs and equipment so every office has a consistent, easy-to-use setup. We’ve served 500+ organizations across the GTA.

What is a custom home theater installation, and why should I consider it?

A custom home theater installation is the process of designing and building a personalized home theater system around your room, needs, and budget. Our team accounts for room size, acoustics, seating layout, and AV equipment to deliver a true cinematic experience at home.

What’s the difference between “home theater design” and “custom home theater”?

Home theater design & installation covers the full range of setups — from a strong TV-and-soundbar media room to a dedicated theater. Custom home theater refers specifically to a dedicated, purpose-built room: acoustic treatment, projector/screen or large-format display, multi-channel surround sound, and theater seating.

What services does Custom AVI offer for home theater installations?

Design, pre-wiring, cabling and conduit during construction or renovation, speaker installation, AV calibration, and remote control programming with a walkthrough so you know how to run the system day to day.

Can you recommend a home theater setup that fits my budget?

Yes — budget is one of the first things we discuss. As long as your goals and budget are realistic together, we can recommend a system that gets you as close as possible to what you’re picturing without overspending on equipment you won’t use.

What should I consider when planning a home theater in Toronto?

Room size and layout, budget, desired audio/video quality, acoustics, seating, and smart home integration all factor in. One often-overlooked item: a quality power conditioner/surge protector to protect your equipment and deliver clean power — we build this into most theater designs.

What’s involved in professional TV wall mounting?

Beyond hanging the TV, professional wall mounting includes finding proper wall structure for the mount, choosing the right mount type for your viewing angle, concealing cables in-wall where code allows, and positioning the TV at the correct height and distance for your seating.

Can you hide all the cables when mounting my TV?

In most cases, yes. We can run cables in-wall using code-compliant methods, or use surface raceways/cord covers when in-wall isn’t possible — for example, concrete or fire-rated walls. We’ll assess your wall type and walk you through the options before starting.

What is multi-room audio and how does it work?

Multi-room audio lets you play music throughout your home — the same song everywhere, or different audio in different rooms — controlled from your phone or a wall-mounted control panel. We install both wired, in-ceiling/in-wall speaker systems and networked streaming audio platforms depending on your home and budget.

Do I need to rewire my house for multi-room audio?

Not necessarily. If your home isn’t pre-wired, we can use wireless/network-based multi-room audio systems that need only power and Wi-Fi at each zone. For the cleanest look and best reliability, wired is still preferable where walls are open — new construction or renovation.

What’s the benefit of a soundbar installation over built-in TV speakers?

Even the best TVs have thin speakers because of their slim design. A soundbar installation delivers dramatically better dialogue clarity and bass, and professional installation ensures it’s mounted correctly, cables are concealed, and it’s properly paired with your TV and any subwoofer.

Can you install a projector and screen instead of a TV?

Yes — for larger rooms or dedicated theaters, a projector and screen can deliver a bigger image than most TVs at a comparable price point. We handle projector mounting, screen selection (fixed, motorized, or acoustically transparent for behind-speaker setups), and calibration for your room’s lighting and layout.

Do you offer outdoor audio and TV installation?

Yes. We design and install weather-resistant outdoor speakers and outdoor-rated TVs for patios, backyards, and outdoor living spaces, so you can host gatherings or enjoy movie nights outside.

What are the advantages of pre-wiring during construction or renovation?

Pre-wiring during construction saves significant cost versus retrofitting later, which requires cutting into finished walls and ceilings and then patching and repainting. It also future-proofs your home by ensuring the right cable pathways are in place before walls close up, making upgrades easier down the road.

What is smart home automation and what does it control?

Smart home automation integrates control systems — like RTI or URC — with your entertainment, lighting, climate, and security devices so everything works from one interface instead of separate apps and remotes. It offers convenience, energy efficiency, and simplified control of your whole home.

Can you integrate my existing home theater or AV equipment into a smart home system?

Yes — we regularly assess existing setups and integrate them into a new automation system rather than starting from scratch, so you keep the equipment you already own where it makes sense.

What areas do you serve?

Custom AVI serves Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, for both residential and commercial projects.

How does the process work, from first contact to install?

It typically starts with a free consultation where we discuss your goals and space, in person or virtually, followed by a design and quote, scheduling, installation, and a final walkthrough/calibration so you know how to use everything.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes — you can request a free estimate through our site and our team will follow up to discuss your project and next steps.

How long does a typical installation take?

It depends heavily on scope — a TV wall mount or soundbar install is usually done in a few hours, while a full home theater, multi-room audio system, or commercial conference room can take one to several days depending on wiring, equipment, and room complexity.

Do you handle projects during new construction or renovation, or only in finished homes?

Both. Pre-wiring is done during construction/renovation before walls close up, which is the most cost-effective time to plan for future AV. We also install and retrofit in fully finished homes and offices using surface-mount or in-wall techniques appropriate to the space.

Are your technicians certified?

Custom AVI is an AVIXA member, and our team stays current with certifications and training across the equipment brands we install and the platforms — like Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms — we support.

How much does a home theater or AV installation cost?

Costs vary widely based on room size, equipment tier, and scope of work — a soundbar install is a very different project from a dedicated home theater or commercial conference room. We provide a free estimate after understanding your space and goals so you get an accurate number, not a generic range.

Is there a warranty on installations and equipment?

Yes — all installation services from Custom AVI carry a 1-year parts & labour warranty unless otherwise specified, and we’re covered by $2,000,000 liability insurance for both residential and commercial work. If an issue comes up during the warranty period, just contact us and we’ll get it resolved as quickly as possible. Full details are on our warranty page.

Why choose professional installation over DIY?

Professional installation ensures your equipment is placed at the correct height and distance for optimal viewing and listening, cables are properly run and concealed, systems are calibrated — not just plugged in — and everything is programmed to work together, avoiding the guesswork, wasted equipment returns, and rework that often come with DIY setups.

What brands and equipment do you work with?

As an authorized dealer, we work with leading brands across displays, audio, control systems, and screens — including Sony, Samsung, LG, Sonos, Bose, Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, JBL, Klipsch, Epson, JVC, RTI, URC, and more. See our full brand lineup on the About page.
